Durga Utsav is intricately related to how
Bengali culture has evolved over the years.
The simple concept of worshipping the
mother goddess Shakti (as she is worshipped in various forms
throughout India) in the form of Durga, representing a simple
Bengali household girl with all her maternal bindings,
symbolizes the convergence between religion, culture and daily
life in Bengal.
Uniting the basic tenets of life Durga
Utsav requires reverence through creative cultural offerings.
Keeping abreast with CCI’s motto, cultural performances by the
kids will occupy the center stage for this
year’s Durga Utsav. This will be complemented by abled
performances of the elders.
We are in a process to invite performers
from India. For the nostalgic amongst us we plan to have
Bengali movies from yesteryears. Add to that the familiar
sounds of Dhak, Dhunuchi naach, and the mild fragrance of
Shiuli.
If this gives the Bengali within you a
familiar tug then please see below for further details.
